Dear reader. I am Darrell ‘as a Service’ Webster, at your service. You might recognise my middle name as coming from a technology background. A cloud service background. But what you may not know is that I am a service. I have been serving my communities for over 10 years, sharing an interest productivity and communications technologies and how they play a part in our daily lives. I am motivated by seeing “the lights go on” in people’s eyes when they understand a new skill or learn something new about productivity. I create learning content, communications and I build communities. Now, I want to commit to writing more frequently and making it easy for people to join me on my learning journey.
I’m not an expert
I learn out loud. This concept is best described by John C Stepper, founder of “Working Out Loud”, a “method for accomplishing goals, while building new networks, skills and mindsets.” I am not an expert. But I am an expert in learning through sharing. As I discover new ways of working in my own life, I share them and how I arrived at learning them. The interest, excitement, mistakes and successes. People who stumble upon my content find a relatable journey that helps them learn too. I have made many connections with amazing, interesting people. I enjoy their stories of their lives, how they work and what interests them. Learning out loud has become my most valuable skill and brought much fulfilment in the friends I have made and lessons I have learned.
Read the book or watch the movie?
I write and share here on Substack, and reach more people. I want to learn more, share more of what I am learning in this changing world and changing way of working. I like to create video to show and share what I have learned, or help others tell their stories. I need to write more and grow this skill to reach those who prefer to read that book, rather than watch the movie. Sometimes I’ll post a short burst of thoughts that probably made more sense in my head. Other times I’ll share a well-developed thought that I have been turning over for some time. I hope that this simple publication will deliver engaging, entertaining, value for my readers and fellow learners.

Thanks for stopping by. I’m new to Substack. I have seen a few people in my network writing here. It looks like a fantastic platform that encourages good writing and interaction.
